The Other Side of Vegas

I must say, I NEVER envisioned myself going to Las Vegas by myself nor hanging out on the strip alone!  (If we’re being real, I’ve also never been there so sober!) But this week I made  a quick two-day trip to Sin City for work, and while I had a little time for play, I got a chance to see the other side of Las Vegas and a tiny taste of “normal” life there.

Tuesday morning I arrived at the airport and rented this beast.

Chevy Spark

Try not to be jealous, mmk?

But in all seriousness, I actually really liked the car. Like a lot. I’ll totally admit it. It’s the Chevy Spark; it was so easy to drive, park (obvi), was pretty comfortable, had great electronics and used hardly any gas.

Not that that mattered, considering gas was less than $2! (I actually had to take a picture of it cause I was so blown away.)

I made it to the office I was working at for the day, knocked out some work & meetings, and then went drove out to the strip to watch a colleague perform in Dirk Arthur’s magic show at the Riviera! It was awesome! My colleague turned into a cat twice and crawled through Dirk Arthur’s stomach, among other tricks! I was amazed 🙂

It was a funny experience being in the hustle and bustle of the strip by myself, and with my work clothes and huge work bag. I guess I just never thought I’d be on the strip for anything other than Vegas shenanigans. After the show I got dinner at Society in Encore. Yum. Yum. Yum. I got this Superfood Salad with kale, pistachios, pomegranate, dried cranberries, sweet potatoes, raspberries, and quinoa, and meatballs with ricotta and caramelized onions.

I checked into The Palms at the end of the day, ready to crash. My hotel room was pretty much the size of my entire condo, which was rad. (Or sad, whichever way you wanna look at it.)

Working out on the road is always important to me, and I tend to judge hotels by their gym. The Palms was pretty dec! (How do you abbreviate “decent”, btw?)

I got a good circuit workout in, ending with a fast 1 miler on the treadmill before heading back to my room for a little “on the road” breakfast. It helps me stay healthy when I travel with my plant-based protein powder to help fill me up, and I grabbed this box for the sunbutter and crackers.

This is random, but I had to take a picture of it cause I loved it so much. The Palms hotel had a badass hairdryer! I hate how hotels normally have crappy blowdryers and this one was top notch. Yessss.

Lunch was at Chocolate & Spice Bakery – but don’t be fooled, it’s not just a bakery! I got a turkey sandwich with an apricot mustard aioli and a cranberry wheat roll. My co-worker got the chicken sausage and shrimp paella, and we couldn’t stop ourselves from a little red velvet cake 🙂

By the way, how cute are all these other deserts?!

It was quite a “different” trip to Vegas, but I loved it! What a different experience in Sin City 😉  Hopefully will be able to get back there again soon.
